Hey guys, Long time no see. Well, I got a new Luv and she is in need of some help and I don't know what to give her first. I have noticed over the last bit of the month or so, every time I start the engine. It's really struggling and sounding like a reving VW engine. I need to know whats going on and what kinda parts I have to get. I noticed in the radiator, there is this oily skim on the top of the water also. Through me WHAT EVER knowledge you have. Oh, And a shout out to all my PNW people! I can't wait to meet ya'll.

Are talking about it sounding like a exhaust leak? Need more info, it's hard to diagnose a problem by saying it sounds like a VW.

Yeah...kinda like a leak. But there is a brand new full exhaust put on professionally. I also checked the donut gasket, it's golden! :) and as of tonight, it died abruptly as I was pulling into my house. (thank god it happened then) it's been spiting and sputtering worse and worse for the last couple weeks. But yeah! Tonight it just up and died as I pulled into the parking spot. I had a friend tune my carb up(stock hitachi) two days ago. He's a true blue gear head so I trust his work. It's almost acting as if there is water in the gas.

Check/replace the points maybe? They can cause sputtering and running like crud.

Oil in the radiator doesn't sound good. What does the oil dipstick look like when you check the oil? is it milk-shakey white? I had that happen to me recently and the head gasket was bad.

Well, my head gasket completely went bye-bye yesterday. I lost ALL coolant in a 4mi drive. I ordered one yesterday and picked it up this morning. so I'm in an ok situation. Now I have to get the head decked, and piston rings. Iwhy piston rings, I have a feeling that with this new head gasket and the increased pressure in the chamber, it's going to either spin my lower end or fry the rings.

Any of you have any of those complications after just doing a headgasket?

Thank you to all who have commented and has helped out.
I have checked to see if there is any water in the oil, there isn't....YET. haha

you wont have high compression a mild resurfacing wont make a major difference
and our engines have really low compression stock so a slight increase wouldn't hurt.
I had mine surfaced when my head gasket went, my block was fairly fresh at the time but if your rings and such were good before they will be with the head done.
