So When I turn my Luv on a shift it into gear it shifts really hard and shakes my the truck and i can hear it in the tranny. Its the stock auto trans and engine for the 76. So I put it up on jack stands and was messing around on it, I started it again left it in park and looked at my rear and my wheels were spinning?! Also when i shut it off it shakes my whole cab. Any ideas?

This might seem odd or dumb, but my son just replaced his catalytic on an 88 Ranger, it had similar symptoms, shifting hard also had power issues and bad idle, the new cat cured it. Just a thought that maybe your exhaust is plugging up a little.

I'm not running any emissions stuff and my exhaust is brand new. Thank you for the idea though.

Describe "Shifts real hard"
When you put it into gear does it hesitate and then slam into drive?
If that's the case, how long does it take to engage, a few seconds.or less?
Sounds to me like a torque converter issue.
First check to make sure your torque converter bolts are tight where it bolts to the flexplate.
If they are, then you probably have a bad torque converter.

Basics first. If your idle speed is too high it will "slam" into drive, should be 900 rpm in neutral.
Wheels turning in park most likely a linkage problem or broken park lock in the transmission. Wheels jacked up will turn in neutral sometimes a little, but should not in Park.

Have you checked all engine and trans mounts? Did you look at the u joints too?

So everything looks fine. I went and drained my trans fluid and added new fluid, it stopped the hard shits when put into gear. Then I realized I have air in my brake lines and need to fix that. I could put the car in park after hitting the brakes a few times and it wouldn't roll. Then I hit the gas to make sure Wheels stayed put, ran through the gears put it back in park wheels rolled then I hit the brakes again a few times and it stopped rolling. So I am guessing I just need to bleed the brakes and problem fixed I hope. I am going to run some seafoam through it all today and see if that stops the dieseling.
