Thank you for this wonderful forum. I have been creeping for a while. I bought my 1974 Luv in January. After much work I started daily driving my truck. Everything works great and I Often take it on 200-300 mile trips.

Downsizing from a 2008 Dodge Diesel In leu of being out of debt I may be a little spoiled. The first month was terrible as the cab was constantly filled with exhaust fumes, so I removed the exhaust manifold, inspected it for cracks, bought new gaskets and sealed it up. I then went to my muffler shop and had them install a completely new exhaust system. We ran the pipe down the passenger side and it exits behind the rear tire.

The good new is now I do not have fumes so long as the window are up or I am moving forward. The bad news, is it is getting hot in Texas and when I roll the window down or stop in traffic, I get exhaust fumed in the cab.

I opened the hood to check my oil yesterday and realized that I have a gassy smell under there. I can not find a fuel leak but I do have a weber on it. I have not put a regulator on my Weber, could that be the issue?

My truck runs excellent, idles smooth accelerates the way it should and my spark plugs are a beautiful tan color when I check them.

I wrote all that to ask a simple question. Is there a solution? Do all of you just deal with it?

If I can not find a solution in the next couple of week I am going to buy a diesel 1.8 and put it in; something I want to do anyways.

When mine was a stocker, I only had fume problems when my egr tube developed a leak. Check there.

Does the tail pipe stick outside the body of is it slightly under the bed still? I had a customer that always complained had a similar problem on a 70 c10 and it was as simple as adding 2 inches to the tail pipes.

This was my problem too.
Also, if you havent done so already, you might check the condition of the various plugs and pass-throughs in the firewall. My a/c compressor was removed before I owned the truck, leaving a >1" Dia. hole where the hose passed into the cab. I just went over the hole with gaffer tape on both sides until the day I decide to deal with it properly.
