I have a few rookie Luv questions.
1. Where can I get a tailgate latch and what does it look like?
2. Does anything go in the louvered section between door and bed or is this it?

Junkyard or post in the classifieds for handles. They look like this (except I had mine chromed).

Looks like someone filled the holes in the tailgate for the handles, hopefully they just filled them with bondo and you can dig it out.

Not sure what you mean about the something going on the louvers as that is a vent for the cab.

Thanks. For handle pic.

About Louvered place I guess that is what it is. I was lust wandering if there is any kind of plastic piece or anything else to it or is that what everyone's looks like.

The louvers are part of the ventilation system . On none air trucks the two vent pulls under the dash on each side open and close dampers that are ducted to the cowl . This allows fresh air from outside to come in and past the driver . Look at the inside of the cab corner . There is a big opening . This is how the air escapes up and out the louvered slots . Sort of a through back to the 67-69 Camaro astrovent .

Somebody took the latches off the gate to try and clean it up . Seen you in town yesterday at Baker and Main .
