I've had 2 different electronic distributors fail over the years. I think one was from a Pup and the other from an S-10. One I bought from the Classified section here and another came on a truck. I liked them, but they both eventually failed without warning and its not obvious what failed and if or how to repair them. So, the question. Is there a wearing part that needs to be replaced on electronic distributors? Both were probably pulled from old vehicles and perhaps I'm just exceeding the life expectancy. Maybe I should just get a brand new version from the local auto parts store and figure that that would give me 20 years. At this point I have 3 drivers and all are back to distributors with points. It only takes about 20 minutes a year to set the dwell and the timing on each truck. Comments?
