hi my friend has a astro van he wants 200 dollars for the van just the only problem its the transmission but the engine is rebuilt can that engine fit in my 77 luv is a good deal? please advise me thanks :ebiggrin :ebiggrin :ebiggrin

That V6 won't bolt to your trans. You will need the Astro trans. or something else. The V6 will fit in the truck. You will need all the electronics for that eng. and will need to make motor mounts.

If it's the 4.3 engine, it's not an incredibly hard swap, but as rondog said, the transmission doesn't match. www.powerbyace.com makes bolt-in mounts for the 4.3 and most popular automatic transmissions. There's more to it than just pulling an engine and putting another in. You'll need a better radiator, you'll probably want a rear end with lower gears, etc...

If you have a good running truck, I'd make sure I had EVERYTHING I needed before I started. Once these swaps get started, it's incredibly frustrating to see your truck sit for a long time without driving it.

I would not modify a LUV in California unless it's a 75 or older. Smog laws kill us, this is why I have a 74.
