If there is no inner lip on a 1980 LUV to C-clamp to, how do you secure a topper? Drill holes and screw it down?!? The flush edges have me stumped. And I'm not drilling into my bed. So how is this supposed to work? Can it be done with out modifying the bed, do you have to weld on latch plates?

i could see it done by having it attach on the outside of the bed thru the 6 tiedown loops with a latch or a thread tightened anchor, not sure how else you could without drilling holes

I hate to say it but in the old days we drilled holes through the topper into the bed rails. My shell was held on by 4 bolts. Back then they were just mini trucks. 8)

I actually saw this done on a LUV awhile back.
Brackets attached to the topper then bolted to the tie-downs.
Looked like crap but worked.
The topper I had on my 79 was drilled and bolted.

if you used the hooks you see used up in rafters you could find a nut that would go on it
