You can fit any engine into your Luv, some guys have installed big block chevys, 455 Buicks, 460 Fords, even a few rotary engines so installing this little 153 CI engine would be a snap.
This engine is referred to as "The Iron Duke", the first version came out in chevy 11s in 1962. It was also used extensively in Mercury inboard/outboard boat engines. Basically you have 1/2 of a chevy 307 V8. The first version, basically still a stock chevy engine was rated at 120 HP in boats. Later Mercury upped the HP to 140 by using a new crossflow head made in Mexico. So parts for upping the horsepower are easy to find and effective. You can find lots of info by going on the net and searching "Iron Duke" engines. Many camshaft makers list hi po cams for it, intake and exhaust systems are available, as are ignition systems. The pistons are straight out of a chevy v8 so youcan swap higher compression pistons right in, just be sure to select the correct side pistons if they are domed. The rockers arms and pushrods are from a chevy 6 cyl.
One big advantage you have is that the bellhousing is the same as almost any chevy, big or small block and so is the flywheel/clutch assembly so any manual or automatic trans wil bolt right up to the engine!
These engines are limited in rpms, however balancing, cutting down the flywheel, using a Holley 350 2bbl carb, a better header and cam will net you into the 150-175 horses! Not bad for a 153 cubic inches...
Since a lot of stock car builders used these engines you might also research that area...
Good luck,
