Hello all. My gas gauge is broken and was wondering where i could find a replacement sending unit? i looked online for one but had no luck. Any help would be great thank you

update. JC whitney has many aftermarket parts for the chevy LUV. including a universal sending unit. will post another post if it works!

Go to this sites "Classified" section, you can find another owner with a good stock gas tank and sender. I think this would be a good buy for you.
Thats the beauty of this site, all of the help you will ever need to fix, or modify your Luv.

The universal will probably not work unless you can adjust the resistance range. The Luvs use a non-typical ohm range for the sending unit. Good luck and let us know if it works.

I used Autometer guages in my truck including the gas guage.
My sending unit was not compatable with it>
I called Autometer and they told me to solder in a resister (I forget the ohm rateing) in line with the sending unit.....problem fixed!


You could probably adjust your sending unit to match the guage with the proper resister. Good luck!
If you search a bit you can find the ohm rateing of the stock sending unit. I think it's listed in the repait manual.

Thanks for the help! JC Whitney ended up giving me an "out of stock" email bout 2 weeks after i ordered it so i talked to a guy on the phone and i ordered a similar one... for 20 bucks more :evil: and they gave me free 2 day shipping it'll be here today "hopefully" but yeah im thinking a resister will be needed.. i'll post how this pans out later!
