Hi,

The search function will not permit the terms 2.2, chevy, or motor because they are too common. Thus, I am unable to locate this information although I'm sure it has been discussed. Can anyone direct me to a thread or give me insight as to the difficulty of doing this? I have a buddy who owns an auto shop and he is a welder so we can alter mounts and exhaust easily. Does anyone know how it would fit dimensionally? Where does the shifter pop up through the floor? What clearance is there for the radiator?

Thanks,

Mike

Don't quote me on this, but if it is an early S10 with the Isuzu 2.2, I believe it will bolt right up and even interchange the parts, ie. intake, exhaust, accesories. I do plan on doing a swap to a 1.9, 2.0 or 2.2 to replace my tired 1.8.

Are you referring to the 2.2L diesel?

Jack

I heard that the older s10's had a 2.2 isuzu gas motor, and that most stuff from a 1.8 is compatable. :?:

I was thinking the fuel injected 2.2L gas motor 1995-1998, for example.

I actually have a newer 2.2 in my chevy car. From looking at it, it doesn't look like it is even close to having the same bolt pattern.

Is your newer car 2.2L longitudinally mounted for RWD or is it FWD?

FWD. I didn't even think about that. So an S10 might be a completely different motor.

in the early S-10s 83 to about 85
there was the Isuzu 1.9L sold in "CA ONLY" to meet emissions
the Isuzu 2.2L diesel sold out side CA as far as i know...

then there's the GM 2.0L and 2.5L I-4 gas engines
and the 2.8L V-6 gas engine :smt078

they started selling the 4.3L V-6 in 88 and the 2.2L gas in the trucks in 94

I know first hand that the starter for the 2.2L diesel is on the oppest side of the 1.8 and 1.9L gas engines.
