i put a used 4 speed manual trans in my 79 luv and the reverse lights come on when in 3 and 4th gear kind of funny but if any one has any idea how to solve this problem please comment

I wonder if it has something to do with that reverse light assembly. It comes out of the side of the tranny, high up on the drivers side.

thats what i was thinking , you think i might of got the sensors backwards ?

There is two switchs on that tranny, one is reverse switch and the other is the coasting richer switch for the emissons, you hooked up the electrical to the wrong switchs, reverse the plugs and you will be fixed
