Yes, there's a pressure relief valve under the hood. It's on the firewall and it has 3 vacuum lines comming off of it . One line is for clean air, one runs back to the tank, and the 3rd line goes to the oil pan. The system is designed to keep a little pressure in the tank. Thats why when you remove the gas cap, you can feel the pressure escape. Any excess pressure that may build up in the system will be vented to to oil pan so the engines PCV system will burn off the fumes. As excess pressure builds up too high, you can hear it being vented by a buzzing, rattleing noise from the valve under the hood. This system is for emissions control and i've havent heard of any going bad. The extra pressure helps out the fuel pump slightly but it isn't mandatory to run the truck. If you have the clean air line hooked up to a wrong port, it could create a vacuum condition and create a vacuum condition in the tank and cause fuel starvation.
