Im in the midst of adjusting my park brake,I suddenly realized I didnt know just how much to adjust the cable turnbuckle to eliminate any brake pad drag when driving ,yet still be able to apply the parking brake effectively on the slightest hill.

In order to hold my pickup on a slight hill,I had to pull the under dash handle so tight Im gonna break the plastic handle.
The brake handle has a total of 18 clicks as one pulls it out and tightens the park brake. I had to pull it to 18 for it to hold my small pickup.

Trying to use tire rotation in neutral for a clue as to drag,
I started the engine and as it idled, watched how many revs the tires made in 30 seconds (in neutral).

Well it isnt exactly consistient in revs per minute as it varies from 14 initially down to 10 and then repeats unpredictibaly. I forgot to get a baseline by counting the revs before I made any adjustment on the brakes,however..stupid

Well I guess I can always run the turnbuckle back to the original position and get the wheel rev at that point for a basis.

Is there an easier/better way to determine when theres no drag. i cant go by hearing, cause Im hard of hearing(regarding women especially) . i cant see the pad/drum contact so thats out
