haven't been on in awhile. neglected the poor little luv because its given me a head ache. any-who, i can drive the truck with a mild foot on the throttle but as soon as i have any haste it bogs down and dies... unless of course i pump the gas peddle repeatedly, in which case it will accelerate, just not the way i want to drive a truck. :? i have replaced the points and checked and rechecked the gap. recently hooked up vaccuum advance on the distributor after i figured out where it was. ive spent numerous days driving and adjusting to see if it's the timing ( and i dont believe it is ) the fuel filter next to the carb is clear and never fills up with fuel so i suspect fuel pump issues? or possibly accelerator pump? the fuel level on the side of the carb stays consistently at the white dot like its supposed to..... help?

Sounds like carb. problems to me. To test the acel. pump.... with the eng. off, hold the choke open (if needed) and look down in the carb. , give it throttle. If you see a squirt of fuel come out of the upper side of the carb. like a small squirt gun, it works.

Pull the carb then keeping it upright pull the plugs on the bottom of the float bowl (12mm wrench) and drain in a clean pan and you will most likely find debris that was plugging the main jet, even water can cause the same problem as the carb will not suck up the denser water.
