OK here is my question.

As I'm doing my research on my 76 chevy luv carb, all manuals I have say my carb is a DCB-340. All the carb rebuild kits are for a DCH-340 which is the 79 and newer models. When I do a google search I cannot find the DCB-340 anywhere at all. It's like it does not exist. What is the story on this carb. The manuals say 75-78 have the DCB-340 yet no where can info be found on this carb.

Any info on this carb is appreciated. I'm just trying to understand the story on it.

Thanks for the time and help with this question.

National carburetors lists a dcp340 for 75-78 LUV manual trans only. Manuals arent always perfect. I couldnt find a dcb model either doesnt mean yours isnt one.

So the manual that says DCB is a Clymer manual. I'm guessing it just has a misprint and it's not a DCB but a DCP. I'm a little shocked that a manual book has wrong info. Very interesting. Sure made my research difficult though. Thanks MTI, 09 for the comment on some manuals not being correct. I think you nailed that. I went and picked up another manual and it says DCP should be the carb.

The manufacturers sometimes use a different part than standard if that part is out of stock.GM would sometimes out mismatched heads or connecting rods in or on a motor to get them out the door. So the manuals aren't always accurate.

I had to use an adapter plate. The bolt pattern is ever so slighlty different.

So I got a new rebuilt carb. Just installed it but it runs for about 20 seconds and then dies. I suspect wire issues. So here is my questions. The carb I took off had three wires. The one I just put on only has two. Are the two wires suppose to be 12V during the running or only during the starting of the truck? Anybody Know?

thanks,.

Check your fuel pressure. I had to little pressure and it would die, and I put the wrong pump and it had too much and it would stall while driving. I put the correct pump and then put a weber on it and it ran great.

Here's a question in line with this thread.

If I find a manual choke Weber 32/36, can I machine the bolt pattern to rectify the mounting issue, or must I absolutely use an adapter plate?

Also, since I am at a higher altitude, will the 32/36 be a good choice?
