There's intermittent switches that can be installed separately from the wiper switch. I've seen them at Schucks here in Idaho, USA. Does 81 or 82 LUVs have intermittent wipers? How about Troopers?

My 86 trooper does not have intermittant wipers, but it might have been a deluxe model option. The wiper switch is on the turn signal arm though so not an easy simple swap on the switch mechanism at least.

I'm bumping this old thread in hopes that someone has installed intermittent wipers on their LUV. So far I found an aftermarket kit at JC Whitney. http://www.jcwhitney.com/windshield-wiper-delay/p2004484.jcwx

Has anyone done this? Any tips?

Just apply Rain-X and you'll almost never need the wipers.

In South Texas we only use our windshield wipers to to wash off the dust that accumulates after months of sunshine. :p
