Wow LUVTruck.com what a good idea!!!!!
OK here is the sitch....
Bought 79 LUV 4x4 its a gasoline 1.8L, I think just about everything is stock, except the dents, and the super cool spraypanted body.
It seemed to run good, it even passed smog after a little tweeking, then a week later I warmed up the truck a bit, it was about 120F if that damn aftermarket Temp gauge workes right. Any how, I was drivin up a hill and all of a sudden a bunch of black smoke starts pooring out of the tailpipe, burning oil i presume. Then the champ actullay almost made it up the hill, and whill i was looking for a place to safly pull over, it died, and it would start back up for only a matter of secounds. I towed it home, and a friend of mine asked me to start it, and i tried and it fired right up, with the smoke of coarse, so i turned it off. I opend the air cleaner housing and the filter had a spirt of oil in it. I did a dry compression test, when the engine was cold, since fear of warming it up would cause more dammage.
the readings starting from the front to back in PSI were 133, 140, 140, 142
my shop manual says that the regular compression is about 172 I think.
Any thoughts would be greatly appriciated, I will have pics of the plugs and compression readings at
