guys, im having a hell of a time keeping my engine clean.

not only is the valve cover gasket leaking, but the stupid oil filler cap has shrunk on me YET AGAIN, and im tired of trying to clean it up after every drive.

so, i turn to you who have maybe dealt with this situation.

does anyone know of a QUALITY oil filler cap that i can use to make sure i don't get oil all over the valve cover anymore? i was hoping to mod the valve cover itself to accept a twist-type of cap that makes a GOOD seal.

any help is appreciated!

Those caps are a common thing. You can find a new one at most auto parts stores. I think my current one came from Oriely's.

eh i have been contemplating cutting the whole oil fill part cap and threaded part off of another valve cover and welding it in place of the stock one. just my $.02, not a big fan of the stock one in the first place

I got a couple from rockauto.com, also get new half-moon valve cover end plugs, they are bad to leak.

Make sure your PVC valve is working correctly, I know it probably wont help a worn oil filler cap but it will help with the valve cover gasket's and maybe a new cap.

pcv? our trucks have a PCV?????

someone suggested letting my cap sit in some brake fluid, and im tempted to go that route.

i dunno. in a matter of days/weeks i will have to do a clutch job and also a timing chain job.(which my manual says requires the removal of the cylinder head...)

so if nothing else, im thinking about taking the cover off, cutting a threaded cap off of a junkyard vehicle, and then carefully welding it to my cover and upgrading it...

the push-in deal just doesnt work for me in this cold. every cap ive tried has shrunk and started oiling the valve cover...
