I wish I could help but I can't find any info in my shop manual. Are you referring to a Chilton's manual?

I've got a old Haynes manual somewhere that showed a breakdown of the #'s. Maybe if i look in an Isuzu manual it will have the same breakdown. I know its out there somewhere, i just gotta keep looking.

CLN1498200001

C is the division- Chevrolet
L is Chassis Type- Light Utility
N is Engine Type
1 is the Gvw Range- Half ton
4 is the Body Type- 4 is Pickup and 3 is Chassis Cab
9 is the Vehicle Series- 9 is a 79, 8 is a 78 and so on
8 is the assembly plant- in this case and on my truck( which has a 8 here) it was assembled at the Fujisawa plant in japan and thats the only one i know - sorry
200001 is a sequential number

anything else that u guys need i could help ya on- from gear ratios on the stock 4spd to the lamps anywhere on the truck as of what type and wattage- its all in this manual- im soo glad i picked it up even though its for a 79 and mines a 78

They were made in Mexico as well, I can't remember exactly which plant it was tho. I remember seeing it about 10 years ago or so when they were still producing the LUV's for non-American use.

Brent. Your Red LUV has been my screen background for going on 8 months. That was a sweet truck. You did a hell of a job on the restore.

I think I still have the original owners manual that came with mine. I ought to frame it and hang it up in the shop.

I don't have an owners man for my 73. Gonna have to leech it off eBay.

Mine is like CLN1437078973 or something like that. So it is good 2 know what the numbers are.

One interesting thing is that this truck was not part of the rollover to the electronic system in the late 80's, so it was titled with regular paper.

Calling the DMV they have no record... 8-)

Is a good place to look up some specs, but not all of them

I towed a 24 foot boat with my 81 LUV. It was an interesting experience trying to get the truck to pull the trailer out of the water 8-) :!:
