Ok I can't get the engine to slide completely flush with the transmission in my 4x4 LUV. The clutch is perfectly centralized and correctly installed. But when I get it to slide on the transmission shaft it will slide all but the final 1/2 inch. Any info on how to get it to slide the rest of the way on or maybe a problem I may have please let me know. I've installed several engines on manual transmissions before but I have never ran into this problem.

Put a jack under the front of the tranny. Jack it up or lower it ever so slightly to make sure they are lined up with each other. The tranny shaft has to fit in a bushing in the rear of the crankshaft.

There a dowel pin or 2 on the bell housing. They need to be lined up perfect for the transmission to slip over them. Just keep jiggling it around and pushing on it. A PITA.

Actually I found out what it is and it makes no sense. The transmission shaft is hitting the inside of the crank on the other side of the pilot bearing. I have no idea why this would happen.
And yes I know the whole jack thing, like I said I've done this before many times (my dad was a mechanic and I am too just not as a job).

I have had them hang up about 1/2 inch or so and I just moved the clutch release arm (to release the clutch) and it slid in the rest of the way. Just something to try.
