 Post subject: bad head gasket

I ran into that problem too. Not as bad though i could just smell the coolant in the exhaust. I took the head off and saw one cylinder was clean as a whistle. Water cleans an engine good. After that I checked the surface of the head to make sure it was flat, did a valve job (which might be a good idea if you have time, its apart anyways), ported the intake and exhaust ports, and put a bigger cam in there to give it more ponies! 70 bucks for the regrind but totally worth it. I don't know if this is any help but just letting you know it happens.
