Well, I'm back. Pouring through the archives I found that the 77 was the last year for the hydraulic clutch. Therefore, the 78 must have a cable clutch. Y'all think that is right?? Thanks...Don

lol. I think you are correct on the switch from hydraulic to cable.

I like the hydraulic clutch... makes swaping a different transmission in easier and Wilwood makes a master cylinder set up that bolts in the stock place of your old one.

Labman...Is your LUV a 77 too--with the cable clutch? I bought a 77 transmission a couple of years ago that arrived with the throw-out lever on the left side. I have the hydraulic lever on the right. I figured the wrecking yard sender got everything wrong and I had planned to return it this summer while on vacation. My only defense would have been that THEY messed up and sent me the wrong one as I thought the lever position change was made in '78. Thanks.....Don

No I have the stupid hydrolic clutch I have had to rebuild the cylinders who know how many times. I have studied converting.
