Ok so I'm trying to figure out if I have a carburetor problem or if my fuel pump is going out. My truck will run for a couple miles ill shift through all my gears to 4 th gear but after running in 4 for a while ill downshift and my truck will just shutoff no power or anything ill try to start the truck again but it won't turn over less I jump start it. Any ideas?

When it won't run, have you looked at the little window in the front of float bowl? No gas there, you need to check the fuel pump and its wiring. LUV's have a weak link in the electrical system, the fusebox. The terminals the wires connect are riveted to the fuse holders. A little age and corrosion, and you get electrical intermittents. I solved mine by taking it apart and soldering the joints. Others have cleaned it with lemon juice, and others a new fuse box. You may also have a charging problem. Note, the alternator no worky, the fuel pump no worky.

Oh yes! I remember the brushes once sticking in the alternator. It would discharge the battery and stall.
