I had to bypass the wire harness for the fuel pump and run it to the ignition coil.this is the way it was when i bought the truck.i connected it to the harness to try to get everything original and after a few weeks it quit. i discovered some problem wires and fixed those but even after the harness bypassed when i accelerate the truck will sputter and die. but it will idle just fine.

Any ideas? fuses good, pump works, filter is clean...

I really doubt you will be fixing the problem. It shouldn't be much of a job to try. Just pull the hot wire which I think comes off the ignition and the one to the fuel pump off and connect them.

If it doesn't help, try looking at the fuel filter and carb float. Also I think there is a small filter INSIDE the fuel pump.

On another question, I remembered the fuel filter inside the stock fuel pump.
