Just had something come up on my way home today. Here's the run down...

With the right blinker on just driving down the road, it works.

With the right blinker on and the brakes applied it stutters and lags, but works.

With the right blinker on, the headlights on and the brake applied it freezes the indicator lamp on and no longer blinks.

The left blinker works perfectly in all of the above situations.

Are there two separate blinker relays for the right and the left? Any other ideas besides the fuse box? (Already tackled that with a brand new one. :D)

Bad bulb or socket in the right rear. Also check the right front bulb if you haven't already.

So I just got into it, not exactly sure what I did but the blinker now acts right, HOWEVER...

Now the gauge lights act up.

With the lights off, everything is perfect. With the head lights on they blink oppositely... right indicator for the left and vice versa...

Any insight, anyone?

Sounds like the fuse block to me. I would clean all of the fuses and holders for starters. I went through this a month or 2 ago. Once everything works again don't touch it anymore. lol

The alternating might be something different though.

Sounds like a ground issue with the tail light.

I concur.

Nothing was wrong with the fuse block (brand new) or the taillight (checked and resoldered). There was connection issue at the cluster. Pulled it out to check it, didn't see anything wrong, put it back in and apparently a wire had become crimped or something because it worked when I put the cluster back into the bezel with no other changes.

Glad to hear it. If the new fuse block is OEM NOS, I still wouldn't trust it completely. The riveted connections is a bad design. I think I started having trouble with mine when the truck was only a few years old. I fought it for about 20 years before discovering the problem and soldering the pieces together. It is running better now than when it was 5 years old. I am not sure the cluster has much to do with the turn signals except the indicator lights. Was it just the right indicator, or were the signals not working?

One flasher is for the hazards and the other is for the turn signals.

All of the turn signals are on one fuse.

The only place where the brake, running, and turn signal circuits come together is at the tail light and in the harness on the way to the tail light.

You will still have a problem. The cluster has nothing to do with what you have wrong. The reason you are having these issues is the bulb is looking for a ground, the one to the chassis is dirty so the ground is anywhere the power can find one thus causing the issue with the blinker.
