First let me apologize if this topic has been covered before. There is such a wealth of information in these forums I couldn't possibly wade through it all. With that being said heres my problem. Ive been working through a truck starting issue, partially covered here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=23327 I currently have the truck bed off to replace the broken fuel lines. But my concern is there is debris in the gas tank. A friend mentioned an acid bath for the tank to clean it out. I had never heard of it before. So i'm here looking for advice. Has anyone done this? Would the gas tank survive this process? What would be the next step after that, a repair kit? Thanks to all.

A good radiator shop will clean it out and put a liner in it.

Unless it is rusted inside, you may not need to do more than hose it out good.

Update: I got the tank out yesterday evening. As I was draining the tank I didn't notice any rust or debris. I'm still going to have this done though. I think its a good idea to rebuild the fuel system from the front to the back now that I have access to it. Has anyone replaced the sending unit in the tank before?

Anyone has, but I haven't. Could you post some pics of the top of the tank and how you run your fuel lines? I'm going to renovate mine one of these days.
