I just put a new weber carb on my luv and it done wonders for the starting and idling and even the driving but when i got it on i took it for a test drive down the road and i only made it about a quarter of a mile and it just died. I could get it to start and run for about 10 sec and it would die again. I'm thinking somthing is getting hot and shutting it down because i can let it sit for alittle while and cool off and it will start and run again. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks

One more question, would the vapor canister have anything to do with it not running because mines not hooked up.

the truck ran like crap before i changed the carb. I couldnt even keep it idling without turning the idle way up. I change the fuel filter at least every other week if not sooner and i also have 2 fuel filters on it. The one by the tank and then i added one by the carb just to make sure nothing got to the carb.

Mine did something similar when the needle and seat was stuck in the float bowl of the carb.

Could be a dying coil too.

I had a similar problem with my 81 after a Weber install.

I found that the tank was not venting right due to the unused return line and canister my dad solved it for the most part by drilling a small 3mm hole in the gas cap.

Do not know why but it seamed to fix the problem for me.
