This problem started a few days ago, My truck usually doesn't start right up in the mornings on a cold start. I usually have to pump the gas a few times and then hold the gas down to get it to start running right. So, As usual i crank my truck, doesn't crank. So i give it some gas to get the fast idle to finally kick in and it fires right up. But, a few days ago my engine is now acting like its in fast idle ALL the time. I've tried adjusting the carb screws to get the idle to drop down but it's not working. I've had the screws almost completely out and its still idling really high. Any help?

Is the choke stuck on?

My throttle cable holding nut on the carb came loose one time and was resting on the throttle cam preventing it from fully closing once...

Well i noticed if i open the throttle with my hand I can close the butterfly plate all the way. If i do not move the throttle, The butterfly plate will not close all the way. How would I check to see if the choke is stuck?

Any help with possibly fixing my cold start issue where it will not crank right up and having to pat the gas and hold the gas for a few minutes to get it to stay running on its own?

No replies. Ah. I need help. Now my truck is shaking pretty horribly. Not like before at only 45-55 mph. Now its wobbling all the time. Ive tightened down my rear axle spring bolts. the Driveshaft bolts seem tight. I will tighten those more but. I think something is majorly wrong.

My choke was stuck shut when I bought my truck because the vacuum pull-off wasn't working. I "fixed" it by over-adjusting the electric choke until the butterfly stayed open. Consequently, on cold mornings, I have to nail the gas a couple times before cranking and hold a fast idle until it warms up. If your choke is stuck open, the electric solenoid may not be getting voltage, or it may be misadjusted.

If the wobbling is not engine-related and you don't see anything visibly wrong, I'd suggest you get it to a tire shop ASAP and pay the few bucks for them to take a look. If you lose a wheel or a suspension component on the road, at best you'll just be out a bunch of money.

REALLY worn front tires, a loose wheel, poor alignment, bad wheel bearing, any of those things can cause that kind of problem.

the tires are all fairly new. its been wobbling for a long time but now its really really really bad. it only goes away at 55 mph. from 0 to 50 and 60 plus its there. and that clicking noise sounds like its coming from the driveline.

If you can safely get under the truck with the rear wheels off the ground, you can spin the driveshaft by hand and see if anything is binding, etc.
