I am looking to rewire my whole LUV. I am choosing to do this because my wife had a LUV in high school (1989) and hers caught on fire. So as my kids get older and one day get to drive the LUV it would make her very happy if the wiring is in the best possible shape. So to my question. Has anyone tried these Nose to Tail complete wire harness systems? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1975-1982-Chevrolet-LUV-Main-WIRING-HARNESS-chevy-wire-/400123072419?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d29318fa3 I found them on ebay.

Thanks in advance
David

David,

Awhile back I had an electric problem where I thought I was going to re-wire my Luv. I looked into getting a EZ wire harness. All the wires are labled, however it's still a lot of work to do. A few others have used this harness and said they had to make some adjusment to get everthing to work right. I have also thoght about taking the entire harness out and just replace wire per wire, that way you might be able to keep most of the plugs. That's just my 2 cents on how I'd do it though.

I've heard good things and bad about EZ Wire.

Good: cheap, labeled.
Bad: Some people will argue this, but I've heard some of their wires are of inadequate gauge.

I've done a rewire on a 280z wire by wire, and it was fuel injected (megasquirt). I think a luv truck would be even easier.

Just finished mine. It was a WH001 bought several years ago and set aside for my '53 Ford F-100. Don't remember who made it. My advice is to lay it out on the ground and get an idea of where the wires attach/fit first. Also, download the free EZ2Wire-Manual.PDF (EZ2Wire.com) and read it a few times. This will explain everything but, (if keeping the Hitachi alternator and external voltage regulator), where to attach the alternator exciter wire. Even though I just finished mine, I will have to look to see where I attached it and let you know if you need. The colors of the aftermarket harnesses are the same and it is just the way they are wired through a fuse box that maks them different, for the most part that is. Unless you plan to eventually go with power windows, locks, etc., the basic harness will be enough and eaiser to run.
