so i just got a 1978 luv 2wd g180. Its got some rust but it was a barn find so it is pretty nice and for 400$ you cant go wrong. I needed a small truck that does good on gas and in my opinion the luv in waaaayyy cooler than a s10.

So anyway, it needs more power to even be safe in my opinion, ive searched around the forums and found out pretty much what you are supposed to do. but i have a couple questions.

I read the intake thread, theres alot of info to soak up, but what i got from it is that he is ordering the single plane and dual plane intakes next?, i think. So i like torque and short shifting when scooting around town. I rarely rev an engine out when im driving nice. But i also like lots of power when i do rev it out.

So single plane or dual plane intake? (my guess is dual plane for the best of both worlds but dunno much about isuzus and you all do)

my other ideas are
-3236 weber
-delta cam grind
-pacesetter header with 2'' exhaust back or something like that
-E-ignition? not quite sure what that is yet im guessing a distributor out of a newer model.

dont think i forgot anything let me know what you think, and thanks.

It sounds like everything you have in mind is most of the upgrades to get the most out of the stock motor. You are correct on the electronic ignition being out of a newer truck (Isuzu P'up) and I have also read here of people using a Petronix ignition, but I don't know much about it. As for the intakes, I haven't got any dual plane before this order and have not had my single plane installed yet to be able to compare the both of them, but you are right on the intakes. The dual plane (6203-DPW) would cover the whole spectrum where the single plane (6204-CW) would cover the upper 2/3 of the spectrum. It seems most people want the 6204 and mostly 4x4 owners want the dual plane, but both will work on the '76 - '80 trucks with the stock motors and both of these will work with the Weber carbs. If you do end up wanting an intake just send me a PM and I will let you know more details. You have plenty of time to think about it though since I am still waiting on the order to get to Offy from the foundry and then after machining on to me. I am hoping about a month or so, but we will see. Maybe someone else who knows more about the performance difference between the intakes will chime in? About page 8 or 9 of the Offy thread there is some scans from the Offy catalogs on the intakes, maybe you have already seen them, but if not they may give you more of the info you are looking for.

yup i saw them i tried to read the whole thread, (got a couple pages left) kinda weird how they cast egr stuff in the bottom of them though. Well i guess ill probably go with dual plane, but its honestly which ever one i can get from ya the easiest im sure both intakes are much better than stock. In a few weeks ill PM ya about one but i have to get my funds in order first im gonna take care of some rust and paint it before engine mods. Also it really needs another gear or different rear end gears i know a guy that has the old 2.2 diesel and the 5 speed he will probably just give that to me.

Also im sure its been asked before but what are the popular wheels to run on em, I wish i knew the lug pattern to see what other trucks wheels i could use on it.

Just let me know when you are ready. I should hopefully have a few left of both types and it will be a few weeks yet anyway. As for rims, the stock trucks have a 6 bolt pattern. As for what all other trucks rims will work, I really am not sure. I am kinda looking for a nice set of chrome rims myself, but not sure what size yet. I already have a set, but I think they are a little too wide for what I am looking for.
