 Post subject: 79 luv engine removal

does anyone know where to hook the engine hoist chains so i can lift the engine out.
never pulled out a 4cyl. thanks.

Opposite side around the intake and exhaust manifold ports. If the manifilds are removed then a piece of flat iron/angle iron with a hole drilled in it to bolt on the studs sticking out the block where the manifolds were bolted on will work.

i used some tie down straps and they worked just fine. i wrapped them like this.

kind of hard to see, but the straps are looped around the number one and two cyl exhaust manifold runner, and the same on the opposite side number three and four intake manifold.


it makes it a little hard to reinstall, but better than stripping a bold IMO
