When I'm out of gas completely, my gauge shows 3/4 of a tank. After putting in about 7 gallons, it showed a 1/4 tank. And as I drove it, and used the gas up... the gas gauge slowly climbed back up toward 3/4 tank. Any clues what may be wrong? I'm not sure what would cause the gas gauge to run backwards.

maybe the two wires are hooked backwards just a thought

You have the wrong sender in the tank, I bet you have a standard GM sender, it works backwards from the stock LUV one. (Please dont ask me how I know)
