I just Bought a new luv about two days ago just took some pictures. I had a 1978 Luv in rough condition and i didnt have the time or space to do it my self so i was planning on taking it to the junk yard when out of no where my neighbors friend calls me and says hey you didnt take that luv in yet and i said no why? He gave me 200 dollars with out even seeing it yet i went and got a uhaul then drove it out to his house we was super excited and so was i the new luv I bought/buying was 450 i gave him 100 the first day then the next day gave him the 200 dollars from my 78 Luv. I took the new Luv home and off loaded it and waited to get a new battery. The dash only has two major cracks in it and has the original Radio in it.

This morning i put the battery in it and started he up she ran just fine we even took her through the mud a few time the other person in the Pictures is not me it is my friend Dustin who is thinking about getting on for himself.

Nice. If I were you I would just put the original white wagon wheels back on it if you had a full set of four (it appears one is already on the truck). I always have liked them. Just my two cents. But I really like the truck. 8)

I did but at the time i had 100 dollars to my name my friend told me about this chevy luv that would be a good project car it was a lot more work than I thought and i was luck to sell it but My first plan was to get luv drop a chevy 305 in it and then lift it as much as i could and either paint it Camo or matte black. Now that i have this one I think Im going to leave it stock motor and Im going to get the original white wagon wheels on it and Im going to paint it the original blue but probably with out the 4x4 on the hood and sides. If i could find the heart rims which was a dealer option i would put those on.

Wow... very nice truck.
If there's a catalytic converter in that smog stuff, can you post a picture? I think I found the original one for my LUV, but can't figure out if it's the correct one. (lol, my grandpa cut the cat out of mine when he had it.)

It does especially when you spent hours trying to make it better and then sell it and then see that they tore it apart and through everthing in the cab then took it down there

Today i got the 4x4 sticker off the hood and primered the front clip and cab not enough time for the bed yet. Some pictures also got it to run again today and the tack set on the steering colum.

Image
Started the day moved the 22ft trailer pulled the luv in the shop and made plans. started space heater didnt keep us too warm maybe warm for 2 hours then ran out of propane the other 6 hours froze our butts off.
Image
the stickers did not want to come off 2 and a half hours just sanding those off.
Image
Image
Dusty figuring out how he wanted to put the tach in there turned out really good.
Image
Started looking at the rust spot since its a small hole think im just going to bondo it.
Image
Taped it all off and sanded the 4x4 off which you can still see.
Image
Front clip and cab got done bed will be next weekend.

The space heater ran out of fuel!?!?! lol, that's cause for a trip to the store. I have a couple of kerosine heaters that I run when I'm out there... 1 is a half gallon per hour (it puts out some serious heat), and the other runs for 18 hours on 1.3 gallons... lol, I make sure that both're fueled up before I start.

Schnazzy lookin' job you're doing there. You might wanna kill that rust before you Bondo it though. (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7163&start). lol, I almost wish I still had all the 4X4 decals intact.

Oh, what colour are you gonna paint it? The original blue?

So far i havnt made up my mind what paint color I want yet i have gone from Matte black to the original blue, to white to a flat grey my friend dusty said my luv looks great with the primer. So on what i want to paint it right now im not sure still up in the air. I will be sure to get rid of the rust before i bondo thank you. The only problem with running to the gas station is you need money for propane sadly I cant afford it. I spend all my money on my luv.

lol, that's a big 10-4 on the lack of cash... I have a VW project that's waiting to be finished, but can't for lack of cash.

Maybe if you use gray paint and put a few coats of clear on it'll look nice. I'm just not a fan of "murdering" vehicles... They're hard to clean (waterspots look like hell on black paint), the paint doesn't last, and they get dirty faster.
