Mikados have the "Mikado" emblem on the glove box and and each side of the bed near the tail gate. They also have the nicer sport 3 prong steering wheel with a round horn button with a Chevy bow tie in the center and cloth door panels and seats. Basically it was a nicer interior trim upgrade over a stock truck.
Hope this helps.

The easy way for me to tell if it has door pin switches and the courtesy light comes on with the doors open its a Mikado.

p.s. i did search ... didnt really find this question asked. just many many references about members Mikado truck. and both of my trucks have the vinyl? door panels. didnt notice the light thing.

well i knew the 77 was not. but the 80 has been "painted" before. and had no emblems. and at first i thought mikado meant 4x4 .. which the 80 turned out to be, so its now even more useless to me other than the few parts i need to pick up

Mikado options varied slightly from year to year, but here is the basic list:
Three spoke steering wheel similar to some Grant aftermarket wheels, has a leather-like finish
Rear bed corner "Mikado" emblem
Glovebox Mikado emblem
Door switches for dome light, light is larger/brighter
Lighted ashtray (blue lens)
Deluxe door panels with clotch/seat material insert and cover to the bottom of the door
Dual tone horn
Leather-like shifter knob
Carpet
Mikado emblems changed from a japanese "kanji-like" script to a straight font in 1977. The glovebox emblem changed again in 78 or 79, the parts book doesn't note it but I've got one 79 with a stick on emblem and the older ones are stuck on through holes in the glovebox door.

just looked in the luv truck year to year changes sticky in stock trucks topic
