Hi guys, new here
I am considering purchasing a '80 Luv, 1.8, 4 spd, longbed, i know the engine has a dead miss, and there is bad blowby out the valve cover, which leads me to believe there's a hole in #4 piston 8O . it has non functioning A/C, and a LOT of rust in the usual areas, and the guy wants $300 for it. i know where there's a 80's Isuzu truck, with a good engine that i can get for almost free. is it worth it? or should i just keep looking for another truck? Jay B.

It comes down to how bad do you want it. It looks like you have a good game plan going into it with a replacement motor so you must be seriously considering the project. It's tough to turn down an almost FREE motor. The plus is you will now have a motor to rebuild to your likeing. Let your concience be your guide. It's never a bad thing to build up a truck.

$300 for a non running luv is a hard call. I would say its worth it, but i have no doubts that there are better deals out there. It all depends on how bad you whant the truck.

It also depends on where you live. I searched for quite awhile before I found a Luv near my area. I drove a little over an hour one way w/trailer and shelled out $500 for a 75 w/350/350 that needs some work. I had a Luv a few years ago and wanted another one so I was willing to get one that needed help. Mine is a summer/weekend cruiser. Wouldnt have bought it if it was for a daily driver. Wouldve waited for a stock one for that.

and you had doubts

It realy just all depends on if you have the cash for it, if so jump on it. There realy arent too many luvs in good hands around anymore. Most that i see are neglected, but there are some that are showroom quality still...
