What would it take to install an AC system in a 1980 LUV? I've got a toyota pick up that is in need a rebuilt engine but I may just scrap the truck. I have a 54 I'm trying to restore and my camaro needs work also and I'm trying to fix up the luv but I don't have the $$$ for all. I had just installed an entire new ac system in the toy only a month before the truck went down. If I can install the ac system into the luv without spending a fortune then I'd like to. The toy has everything I need. I know I need to do some fab work and get a new rad but I can handle that. Any ac guys in the house?! Any help appreciated. :ewink

i think your biggest hurdle will be mounting the a/c properly to the LUV engine, and prolly routing the hoses and what not for the a/c to work properly, i'm certain that its feasable, but why dont you look at or get some pics of a pu'p or trooper(with a/c) that might help you to get a good place to mount it, and i know that there were a few luv's with factory a/c but as for using the toy parts unless you got the means to do the fab work you might be looking at a real project...

Check with the various air con parts company's. They may still have the LUV engine compressor brackets. Look into some of the Street rod magazines, they have companies advertizing airconditioning components for custom installation. The early A/C for LUV's was from a couple of aftermarket companies. Here in CA one was called A.R.A.
