I kept the original AM radio that came with my truck. It was busted when I first got it, but I managed to make it work again. I had to replace the speaker and re-wire a couple things here an there.. Of course, I dont really listen to AM radio, I barely listen to Radio at all. I usually just like to plug in my ipod and listen to what I got..
On the space below the glove box, i put in a Sony CDX-F7005X stereo. Its pretty cool, has a remote, am fm, cd player, and the best part would be the aux connection in the back. For the front, I used these speakers i had from a home theatre system i had which was busted. I managed to put four 4-inch speakers on the sides, behind the seat and a ten inch woofer and amp behind the seat. And still managed to keep room for the jack, rod to bring down spare tire, jumper cables, tire irons, and a bag of tie-down straps. I'm a six foot-300 lb guy, and still fit pretty comfortably in the truck. I guess the best part of it all is that I kept the original AM stereo!!!

Here are some pics of my set up; still need to pretty it up, but sounds awesome..
