 Post subject: fan cutting out?
PostPosted: Fri Jun 20, 2003 3:43 pm
My vent fan has this problem cutting in and out. It really acts like it might be a loose conection somewhere. It also runs my A/C...and it is 96 degrees outside here in TX. That rear split window comes in handy under these conditions. I was on my way home today and it started working. Smoth road and no bumps.... I always said this truck has a mind of its own...You know ONE WITH AN ATTITUDE! How is the fan switch opperated? Wire cable? Thanks for any advice. 'O' Yea i have checked all the fuses , they are good to go!

you should be able to see the wire that goes to the blower from the driver side floor board. it might be a ground also. the interior of the truck has NO ground in it. (all the grounds go to the outside of the truck for some reason) you might want to tap into one of the grounding wires inside the truck and ground it to the dash frame. that might help too.
the fan switch in the dash can come loose and move....that might be the problem too.
Hope this helps!

On my 80 luv i have the fan connected to a switch on the dash..but it has no ac. If i do this to my 79...would it make the ac work? I have been all over this thing...and still cant figure out where the problem is!

your ac clutch prolly turns on from you turning on the switch for the blower motor. (with the switch in the dash) if that switch isn't turned on your ac prolly isn't going to work. you could find the wire that activates the AC and put a toggle on it too......or fix the switch for both.
hope this helps.
