I was just reading that thread on the MUA-5 and the MSG-5. Like a lot of guys I've been thinking about the 5 speed swap but I don't know anything about my stock trans or about the MSG-5 which is what I'm thinking about. I have a 79 Mikado 4x4 and with my transmission is the transfer case attached like in one unit like the MUA-5? (That's just what I heard). And with the MSG-5 is the Transfer case attached or is it seperate? I know I'm probably gonna have to do some driveshaft modifications but at some point I'd like to put on a different transfer case for some serious 4 wheellin,' but I just want to know if that's possible or not. Also is there anything else that has to be altered other than the cross member and throwout bearing? Just want to say thanks in advance to any and all help.

Hey Thanks! Those pics are awesome! It's great to finally see what it looks like. I guess as far double transfer cases go we're kinda screwed huh? The qwest goes on.

Well I figured I want to convert over to the MSG-5 transmission but as a side project was wondering if I could use two different transfer cases to make a double case or would I have to use the stock transfer case? But regardless of the transfer case question I'm going to convert over to the MSG-5 after I fix up the engine. Just tryin' to keep my options open. Thanks for any help.
