When you switch from a points distributor to an electronic one, you will notice the difference in performance and fuel economy right away. Points type distributors aren't very efficient, your ballast resistor cuts down the power of your spark a bit to keep your points from burning out too quick, and due to the spring loaded mechanical points your spark tends to fade away at higher rpms.
All that disappears with an electronic distributor/ignition module. You get 100% spark and efficiency all the time. ( In theory..lol)
What about a pertronix igniter. Do you have to change anything different versus an electric distributor?
