Smart thinking.
A freugal man can live on stuff all.
If i wasnt addicted to Cigarettes and junk food i could clear off out bush and never be seen again.
A big thing here is hard rubbish. Do you guys have that. A yearly pickup of large unwanted "rubbish" or 'trash' that people leave out on the front of their houses.
Things like washers and fridges etc.
Certain elements of society go along and help themselves to anything metal and take it in for scrap. Technically its stealing but they get away with it.
I have found a bit of treasure over the years but i have never made a living out of it.
My mate got himself a nearly new Victa 2-stroke mower the other week. It was lighly seized, he put a stick in the plug hole and gave it a tap with the hammer put fuel in it and it has not missed a beat. It would have looked funny, hes an IT manger and wears a suit and drives a new work car (4 dr Commodore SS- your new Pontiac), doing a snatch and grab on a mower in peak hour.
Heres a funny thing. Have you ever seen a couch/sofa out the front of someones house, they do not want it anymore so the put it out on the street. Ever notice that 9 times out of 10 the cusions will be gone off it. That makes me laugh.
I say put up a notice at some local places and offer to remove rubbish for people and do odd jobs and gardening and stuff.
Go to Real Estate agents with a flyer, cleaning up after bad tennants and that sort of thing. Any metal rubbish is win win. You charge them to dump it and they sell it for scrap. Watch out for the IRS

George needs to know if your making a dollar.
Cash money up front. Do a good job and word will get around.
You have a Luv, perfect truck for the job. For a start you would not need much in the way of tools.
Carefull with that percussion thing. You might blow up your truck and miss the intended target.
I would try camping out under the stars in the bed of the truck. You said your a heavy sleeper, tie a trip line to your ball bags. That will have you up and at em ASAP.
Cheers, Bob.
