how do I know if my carb has a bowl vent or not? I am looking into a rebuilt carb and was asked that question. I thought the carbs were either CA or Fed emissions and or manual or auto....

They are probably talking about the fuel line connection to the carb. 76 and up had two lines, one being the return. 75 and older with mechanical pump had only one.

Yeah,, the carb place was probably trying to be helpful in identifying your carb. Dunno if I've ever seen a Hitachi carb with a bowl VENT - but I think the solenoid near the top of the float bowl area near the fuel inlet may perform the vent valve purpose. Not all Hitachi carbs seem to have them, dunno about all LUV Hitachi carbs.... when in doubt, email your carb rebuilder pics of the carb and let him figure it out.
