I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I don't think the stock tranny would require that much trimming. Can anyone guess what it might be? My 4x4 stuff is still hooked up as it's supposed to be... :?

I just thought of something. If the body was lifted, would the tunnel need to be trimmed for all of the gears to be hit? The shifter is larger at the top after all...

Yup. The little truck I just bought had a body lift on it and teh previous owner had to trim the tunnel to make it go into gear.

yeah in stock trimm the shifter just clears the body, if you have a boddy lift it will through all of that out of wack. :?

Was the original boot on ? I cut mine out and went with a metal framed boot that was a little larger than the hole.. When i put my lift kit on , it said you have to cold bend the shifter in third gear...that was a scarry thought...but it worked out ok. If you follow your steering colum inside to the firewall you well probly notice that it has been cut to fit also! Hey another thing, look under your bed where it is setting on the spacer blocks and make sure that who ever lifted it spot welded the four metal spacers in the center to the frame.If your shifter housing wasent cut...you would only have 1st..and..3rd..Might be a slow ride!!

That is most definitely body lift trimming. Your truck has like 3 inches or so from what I saw, which would require a fair amount of cutting. While you have it all open like that you should take a look at how well 4hi and 4lo clear and maybe do some more cutting it you have trouble keeping the tcase shifted in. I only have a 2 inch lift and 4LO bangs itself out against the cab, especially when backing up.

The clearance is good except for second gear. I get a rattle while its there, but it isn't hurting anything. It's just the shifter vibrating against the tunnel. The carpet is not going back in, by the way. I have to figure something else out.

Do what that one guy did. He coated the inside of his cab, (about halfway up) with that tough coat bed liner stuff.

Its not very heavy. It weighs a little more than the stock bed. I am building my own chassis also.

if i put a 2 in body lift will i have to do n e trimming or can i leave everything the way it is if i do i might design a front lift kit which i have already mentioned before thanx. matt

I can't say for sure as I didn't do this one. The way it looks, however, you will probably have to do some sort of trimming (or shifter bending) to reach the 2nd, 4th, and R positions. Damn, I really would like to go with the coil over setup, but don't have the foggiest idea what to get or how long to get them.
