:x o.k., I have a problem. i bought an exhaust manifold for my supposed '72 luv. they had a 73 manifold and swore that the two were interchangeable.so now i go to bolt the f**cker on and the ports dont line up! Anyone know how to tell what year engine or upper end i got? the number stamped on the manifold that fits is

Man! With as many problems that you have with your truck, im starting to think that you dont have a stock motor. Can you take a couple of pictures of the engine so we can see. Maybe we can tell if it's stock or not. Or go find a owners manual and look at the pics in it to compare to your truck. I've never heard of a dual point distributor on a totally stock truck and now you have a manifold for a early modle Luv motor that doesn't bolt up.

You said it. It's a bastard. Maybe someone cobbled an engine out of a later model, and didn't keep a record of it. I have a hard bound notebook that I keep everything in. Oil changes and when the next is due, all maintenance and fabrication drawings, everything. It will be good when I will it to my kid. Then he/she can fix it with my help even after I am gone.

according to my haynes manual, series 1,1972 does have dual points.yeah, :idea: i can kind of see now why this baby was a freebie :!:
