OK dont make fun of me for asking this question but would anybody happen to know the original number to the transmission to a 76 chevy luv because i am starting to think that its not the original transmission but i am not really sure can anyone help me out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you got any pics of yours and where are the # that you are looking for and i will look at mine i just put the trans in last week ok ttyl

"I do have some info at home but can't get to it right now. By the time I get back and get my hands on it you will probably get the answer you need from one of the others guys on here.

Be sure and let them know which one you already bought cause if you can't use it maybe one of them will need it and ya'll can work out something.

I will try to copy the info I have at home when I get back and send it to you. It has all the parts numbers and Isometric drawings of every luv truck and for the whole truck. Even it doesn't help with situation it won't hurt to have it on hand later for other stuff.

Oh yea and we all would still like to see more pics of your truck darlin....

From my experience numbers will tell you nothing with isuzu tranmissions.


Put up some pictures, even then the only advice that could be given is if it looks like other luvs.

I just need to know becuase i got a speedo cable and it doesnt look anything like the one i use to have in there and i was just wondering if i have a origianl tranny and where would i go to look for whatever magic numbers i need?????????????????

More info fella.

Manual and autos have different cables.
A real early luv could have a different cable for a manual trans too.

Not to sound rude but im a girl and i figured that the auto and manual trannys would be different so more tehn likely i have an auto cable cause my tranny is manual......

Did you buy the cable??? From where?? What did you tell them?? is your speedo not working???


The cable thats in the truck should just have a collar that screws undone. Sometimes you will get it with no tools other times you might need a pair of multigrips. Once you have screwed it off on the end of the cable there will be a pin poking out and it will have a flat tab on one side. If you look at the box theres a hole for the pin and a single slot on the edge of the hole for the tab.


Dont recall what the auto looks like. If i rememeber right its got the plastic gear on the end or something. That could be the TH400 box. dunno.
