Alright last night i had to tow my brothers toyota to a friends hose to get it off the collage campus. But heres my question when i was towing it up 2 realy steep hills (it wieghs 5080lbs just if your wondering) my bro said my truck gave little vary briefe vary faint puffs of blue smoke when i cought a higher gear (from first to second). He said it was vary breif faded quickly and was just barly noticable. He told me it happened 3 times all of which were on steep or long hills i had to pull. The rest of the milage (about 5-6miles) i didnt have anny problems whith that (and it was all stop and go traffic). So my question to you is, is this normal or a big issue? Thanks guys.

I would have to think that it's a normal thing under such conditions. That is a pretty big load to pull uphill. Some states wont allow you to pull anything heavier than the tow vehicle, for safety reasons. If nothing else was out of the ordinary, it was handling the tow pretty well.

yeah all was good and we were just towing whith a rope and my brother was in the truck so its not a safty issue (on a trailer i would never tow more than the rated tow capacity). But yeah i talked to some guys that tow regularly and they all say its normal so its all good.
