The 2.3 is rated at 90 hp and the 2.6 is 120 hp.
The 1.8 is 70hp , and the 1.9 is 80hp for the stock Pup engine and 90hp for the Impulse version.
The Impulse EFI turboed 2.0 is 140hp , and the later EFI turboed 1.6 is 160hp.
BTW...those are all stock engines with smog and air conditioning intact - so de-smogged, with a bigger cam, a weber, a header, a 50 amp alternator, and a higher output coil, electronic ignition, etc. will no doubt change those numbers a lot.
Just out of curiosity, have you figured out how you are going to wire up your 2.3/2.6 hybrid's ignition yet? I already know that the distributor and the carb intake for a 2.3 will fit a 2.6, and the 2.3 ignition stuff first came out in '86 - so therefore I'm assuming it has an electronic ignition?
I'm trying to find out if it's going to be as simple to wire up as putting the electronic distributor/ignition module from an 80-82 Luv, I-Mark, or Pup into an older Luv with a G series 1.8 or 1.9? That mod doesn't require an ECM, is a stand-alone ignition system, and basically is a simple 2-wire conversion.
I'm preparing to put the same 2.3/2.6 hybrid engine in my truck this spring, and any input you may have on how to do the engine's ignition wire-up would be greatly appreciated.
