What year did the g 200 come in the LUV? Im building a g180 with a g200 head, and im tired of the idiot at auto zone telling me "sir, your engine and head combination wont work, those are different engines" when i went to auto zone to order some parts, and then he gets mad when i tell him he is wrong. Im tired of arguing, can someone help?

Yep...just explain to him that a lot of Isuzu G series engines have interchangable parts - just like the old chevy small bloccks and the old ford small blocks did.

The G series engines were put in a lot of non-Isuzu vehicles through the years. They are a pretty common engine.

And putting a G180 head on a G200 engine is a pretty common thing to do to boost it's compression.

But in your case - using a G200 head on a G180 engine will do the exact opposite - it will lower the compression.

We had a guy come into the auto hobby shop here on base with a neon that got told by a guy at the local auto zone that he should buy dex-cool instead of regular green because "It's more expensive because it's better, and newer cars use it..."

... i about fell out on the deck....

I just don't get it , if you want people with a brain to deal with you sure don't go to Shucks,Auto Zone and a couple of other off brand minimum wage mentality, if ain't in the computer it don't exist auto part stores and whats real sad is i use NAPA the most and most of the time there cheaper and almost always have the part plus when i am working on an off the wall project they are more than willing to help.

So much for this Rant i'm outa here.

To save time and headache, I usually try to figure out what part is needed before going to one of those stores. Or get them to look up the part for what ever vehicle the engine, or whatever, it came out of.

Yeah definately dont discuss the project.

Go in tell em what you want pay and bail.

Dont know how your going to go with your compression.

The G200 chamber is bigger in diameter than the G180.

Shaving it might make a little different but not that much.

Your probably better off stripping the 180 head youve got there and using it with the G200 valves.

Bob.
