 Post subject: Head Bolt Nightmare!

Well i finally got my 80 eng. rebuilt! Sure was alot of fun to finally see the guts of one of the stock engs. I was putting the head bolts back in to speck torks. The little bolts in the front, well the one on the drivers side twisted off and broke at 25lbs. DAMN the bad luck! Everything else went good. What do you all think i should do? Drill it out and retap? Do you think it would hold ok if i just left it be? I did put sealer around the front before i set the head back on. The tork cant be the same as the other head bolts....being a different size?? (chilton sucks)! H E L P!!!!!!!!

get a left handed drill bit about 1/2 the size of the bolt.
Most likely you will start drilling, it will catch and pull the bolt right out.
Good luck.

Thanks , I did drill it out and rebolted it. I felt like a father in the delivery room when it came to starting it. First turn on the key , and started right up. I ran it for awhile and it really sounds great! Thanks to all of you who gave me good advice when i needed it.
