...in 1975? The guy on e-bay that is selling the Offenhauser intakes for our trucks has got them listed under 2 parameters: the make of the carb and the year of the truck. I don't understand. I thought the engine was the same from 72-80. Also, since you can put a weber carb on the stock manifold, wouldn't it stand to reason that other carbs might fit the carb mounting plates on the intakes? I'm just confused. I kind of wanted to bid on one, but I don't know which. Mine is an 80 4x4 with a weber carb.

Thanks in advance for any help.

There were 2 different gas engines that were in the production run from 72-80. The early years had the dual timing chain motor and the later years had the better design motors. Thats why V motor conversions are specific to early and late year trucks. As for carbs, the stock hitachi would bolt to the stock intake directly, whereas the weber called for an adapter plate setup. The weber is a very popular aftermarket replacement carb so it stands to reason that Offy whould build a system for both carbs. So you have 2 different motors and 2 different popular carbs.

Thanks. So if I wanted to put this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2409874495&category=36474) intake on my truck, I would need an adapter plate to put the weber carb on the holley mount or a holley carb right?

Yea! It looks like it will take a Holley directly to it. You can most likely get an adapter plate for your weber from a couple of places on the Internet. If not, you could get one made.

I bid on it, I guess we'll see what happens. This would be an excellent upgrade to do in conjunction with the header I am getting from toto dave!
